Construction

Here are a few important things to know as we begin construction in your neighborhood.

  • We build our fiber network in sections called fiberhoods (fiber + neighborhood). Fiberhoods are named using 4 numbers and 1 or 2 letters – for example, 1707-L.
  • Construction of each fiberhood will take 4-6 weeks. Timelines are subject to change based on weather.
  • Our crews will be working on utility poles and digging in the utility easement or right of way. This may be in your front or back yard.

Questions we hear all the time

Get answers to the most commonly asked questions about ImOn's fiber-to-the-home service expansion.

ImOn’s 100% fiber technology is the fastest and most reliable way to access the Internet. It’s superior to copper (coaxial) Internet, satellite Internet, and 5G home Internet!

  • 100% Fiber: Our Internet is fiber-to-the-home and fiber-to-the-business. That means your property gets its own dedicated fiber strand connecting you to our network. Many other networks that claim to be “fiber rich” use a mix of fiber and copper, slowing down your maximum speed.

  • Better Technology:  Fiber is made of tiny strands of glass, thinner than a human hair, that carry information using pulses of light. These pulses are faster than the electric pulses of cable Internet or airwaves of 5G Internet and satellite Internet. They’re also more resistant to interference, creating stronger connections.

  • Speed: Only fiber can offer equally fast download and upload speeds! You can easily stream shows, work from home, game online, and share videos and photos – all at the same time! No more buffering or lag.

  • Bandwidth: Fiber cables can carry more information at once – thousands of times more than copper wire. That means you won’t notice any slowdowns during the peak times of day when your neighbors are online, too.

  • Reliable: Fiber is more durable than copper, making it more resistant to harsh weather conditions or outside interference. That means more reliable service and less downtime for you!

Yes! You can sign up as soon as construction begins on your fiberhood. You will get a letter in the mail and a door hanger on your front door with information about our services and how to sign up.

If you want to be one of the first people installed once construction is complete, we recommend signing up as soon as you can. Plus, everyone who signs up before service is live will get a FREE installation, plus their first month of service FREE!

Our goal throughout the entire construction process is to be as minimally invasive as possible and help return your property to its original state.

Construction crews will primarily be working on utility poles and in the utility easement on your property to build our fiber network. These areas may be located in your front or back yard.

In the easements, ImOn will use a boring machine to create small tunnels underground to insert fiber cables. ImOn uses this method because it minimizes the damage to your property.

Once the majority of the physical construction is complete in your neighborhood, the ImOn construction crews will begin the process of restoring your impacted lawn. We will fill holes with at least 6 inches of black dirt and spread grass seed and fertilizer over the impacted areas. To ensure full restoration, please regularly water the reseeded area.
